Video: Shinya Kimura Motorcycle Artist Shinya Kimura Needle

Don’t call him a custom motorcycle builder, Shinya Kimura is really more of any artist whose medium is on two-wheels (among other formats). In an industry that centers around products that should resonate with their owners, Kimura finds a way to put more soul into metal than just about anyone else we know. Check out after the jump this unlisted YouTube video by Henrik Hanssen, which shows Kimura and his work from his shop Chabott Engineering.

Restored Edison Electric car from 1889. Charles writes...

Hello again! I looked up from my computer today to take a look at the history of one of the major projects we are working on at Global Research– electrification of the world.   Here is what I found.  What is really interesting is that I believe this video was filmed when the car was being driven to our Global Research campus for the 2008 Battery Symposium that we hosted. It is a video of a restored Edison Electric car, located in our hometown of Schenectady, NY at the Edison Exploratorium. It had a 26 volt GE Automobile Motor Patent 1889.

It's 121 years later.

The iPhone 4: it blends

The iPhone 4: it blends: "

Another Apple product launch, another episode of Will it Blend? No cheating this time as far as we can tell, but the production values have certainly gone through the roof for the inevitable iPhone 4 edition and yes, just like everything else they've put in a blender, it blends. See for yourself after the break.

[Thanks, O'Neill]

Energizer battery charger contains backdoor? REALLY?

Energizer battery charger contains backdoor? REALLY?: "

Energizer Duo

WHAT? Un-freaking-believable! Energizer battery charger contains backdoor

The United States Computer Emergency Response Team (US-CERT) has warned that the software included in the Energizer DUO USB battery charger contains a backdoor that allows unauthorized remote system access. In an advisory, the US-CERT warned that he installer for the Energizer DUO software places the file UsbCharger.dll in the application’s directory and Arucer.dll in the Windows system32 directory. An attacker is able to remotely control a system, including the ability to list directories, send and receive files, and execute programs. The backdoor operates with the privileges of the logged-on user.

This is the best reason to pick an open source battery charger, like the MintyBoost in the Maker Shed. The MintyBoost will not install software and not trojan your computer.

Baird Beer? Yessssssss!

So. Here it is. Baird Beer.

Amy and I were at the store last night and through the cooler door I saw Baird...
  Baird Beer!

I had to have it.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is actually a delicious beer!

Baird Beer is brewed at the foot of Mt. Fuji, in Japan!

I got the Dark Sky Imperial Stout.  It is a seasonal Beer, annually released in January and Febuary.

It's quite a good beer,  a little hoppy with a nice coffee flavor. It has a very smooth texture.  You can taste the alcohol in it somewhat; it weighs in at 9% alcohol/vol. But, it's not too strong. It has a lightly sweet finish, but not too sweet.

I am no professional beer taster, but I like it!
It may be my new favorite beer.

Remote-Start Your Car with a $10 Cellphone [Weekend Project]

Remote-Start Your Car with a $10 Cellphone [Weekend Project]: "
Hardware enthusiast Dave Hacks read about the Viper SmartStart system, capable of remote starting your car from anywhere, all for $500. He loved the idea, but not the price, so he rolled up his sleeves and made his own on the cheap.
After looking into the system, I soon stumbled onto the fact that the system is ridiculously expensive, as is everything that has to do with the Goddamned iPhone newer technology. Further research on the subject yielded little hope, as all other systems were out of my budget (cheap as hell).

He details the step-by-step process in great detail on his blog in three parts. The project as a whole cost him $71.03, and while it certainly requires some time and know-how on your part, the end result is pretty cool.

Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera VS Ducati 1098

I guess as long as the bike can get out in front in a head to head race (and doesn't get run over), it can win.... :D

Skyline GT-R vs Ducati 1098

I was really pullin' for the bike.... GTRs's are pretty sweet though. I guess though it all boils down to 2 contact patches vs 4 (like he says in the video).
